Who We Are

Glasgow Electronic Music Archive (GEMA) is a volunteer-led collective dedicated to documenting and celebrating the city’s electronic music and club culture — from the early days of synth experimentation to today’s underground scenes.

We believe these stories, spaces, and sounds deserve to be preserved, not only as history, but as living culture shaped by the people who experienced it.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build an open, community-driven archive that documents Glasgow’s electronic music scene from the 1970s to the present day.

Through flyers, recordings, photographs, oral histories, and personal memories, we aim to create a resource that is accessible, inclusive, and reflective of the people who made the scene what it is.

What We Stand For

Community-Led

Built with and for the people who shaped Glasgow’s electronic music culture.

Preservation

Safeguarding fragile materials and memories before they are lost.

Living Culture

Recognising electronic music as an evolving, ongoing cultural force.
