What is GEMA?
Glasgow Electronic Music Archive is a volunteer led collective dedicated to celebrating the city's vibrant electronic music and club culture — past, present, and future and we need your help!
What are we trying to do?
We're a community interest organisation interested in documenting Glasgow's scene from 1970s to the present. Our aim is to curate an online archive featuring a range of materials from rave flyers to your own personal experiences and memories.
How does this site help?
The archive is the first step in our mission to create a organisation that is inspired by, but also gives back to Glasgow's electronic music community. This site helps us spread the word, and gives an avenue for you to submit relevant materials that you think should be recorded as part of the project!
Who We Are
Glasgow Electronic Music Archive (GEMA) is a volunteer-led collective dedicated to documenting and celebrating the city’s electronic music and club culture — from the early days of synth experimentation to today’s underground scenes.
We believe these stories, spaces, and sounds deserve to be preserved, not only as history, but as living culture shaped by the people who experienced it.
Our Mission
Our mission is to build an open, community-driven archive that documents Glasgow’s electronic music scene from the 1970s to the present day.
Through flyers, recordings, photographs, oral histories, and personal memories, we aim to create a resource that is accessible, inclusive, and reflective of the people who made the scene what it is.
